Earlier today, Kansas Democratic Leadership proposed a school finance plan to restore K-12 education funding at press conferences scheduled at Mission Valley Middle School in Shawnee Mission USD 512 and at Lowman Hill Elementary School in Topeka USD 501. Kansas Democrats decided to postpone the presentation last week in anticipation of Boeing officials announcement regarding closure of the Wichita facility.

According to Democratic Leadership, the plan is an alternative to Governor Sam Brownback’s proposal, which calls for increasing the base, per-pupil funding amount, but eliminating most of the current weighting factors.
