Professional (Legal) Assistance Program
USA|Kansas members have access to legal assistance for job related matters, including: contract review, wrongful dismissal, and involuntary change in status.

This service is available to full members after one (1) year of paid membership. Emeritus, aspiring leader, institutional and affiliate members are not eligible.

Members must contact the USA|Kansas office to initiate the benefit and secure a referral for legal services. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the professional assistance program.

How much monetary assistance is available to members?

Members are eligible for legal services up to $750 per year, with a maximum benefit of $750 per incident.

Is my information kept confidential?

Administrators work directly with the assigned attorney. The USA|Kansas office does not keep any legal documents; we keep only the invoices submitted for payment by the law firm.

How do I get a referral and what can I expect?
  1. Administrators in need of professional assistance must first call the USA|Kansas office for a referral.
  2. The Executive Director will authorize a referral to a law firm that works with administrators on behalf of USA|Kansas. You are strongly encouraged to provide a personal contact number to protect your privacy.
  3. An attorney will contact you within 24 hours
  4. Administrators will work directly with the assigned attorney
  5. USA|Kansas will be billed directly for services rendered on your behalf. Should your legal fees exceed $750, you will be responsible for the difference.
Can I be reimbursed for legal fees paid out of pocket?

The legal assistance program is not a reimbursement program. Administrators who choose to pursue legal services without a referral and outside of our program may not be reimbursed for legal fees incurred outside of the program. Members are strongly encouraged to contact the USA|Kansas office with additional questions.

How does this work with other benefit programs?

Members may be eligible to participate in legal assistance programs offered by their national association or other state membership associations.
