This year’s Pre-Convention Day of Discovery is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25, 2012. This pre-convention session is once again sponsored by Discovery Education and continues the tradition of offering valuable opportunities for professional development and networking.
The 41st USA|Kansas annual convention, Kansas Administrators: Leading Education in the 21st Century - will be held in Wichita from Wednesday, January 25 - Friday, January 27, 2012. The USA|Kansas annual convention provides opportunities for engaging in meaningful professional development, networking and recognizing administrator achievements. This year’s convention continues the tradition of offering valuable opportunities for professional development and networking -- with more learning clusters and an additional keynote speaker!
USA|Kansas extends a special thanks to our exhibitors and our 2012 Convention Sponsors. We encourage conference participants to visit our vendors and business partners. With their support, we are able to offer additional convention activities and programming without increasing registration fees.

On Wednesday afternoon convention participants will commence in Expo Hall beginning at 3:00 p.m. with the Vendor Reception from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The exhibit area will also be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

SB 350, the Democrat's plan to restore funding to the BSAPP over several years, is now is now available online. Click here to download the bill.
KSDE has provided a run, SF12-051 (January 10, 2012), which provides the effects of a proposed school finance plan being offered by Democratic leaders in the Kansas Legislature. The plan provides for an increase in BSAPP for the 2012-13 school year of $66.75; in the 2013-14 school year an additional $66.75 and in the 2014-15 school year an additional $133.50 (based upon 50 percent of the state general fund increase.) Beginning with the 2014-15 school year, this plan will provide general state aid based upon 50 percent of the state general fund increase (excluding KPERS).

Governor Brownback's Excellence in Education Act is now available online. While some part of the plan looked familiar, the bill included many other provisions that are still being reviewed. The bill is 138 pages long. Click here to download the bill.

KSDE has updated the Governor’s school finance reform plan based upon information available at this time (January 24, 2012). It is important to note that this plan would not take effect until the 2013-14 school year. Click here to download SF12-066.
